Alicia Monk grew up in Midland, Texas, and graduated from Midland High School, where she established herself as a multi‑sport athlete. She went on to compete at the collegiate level in both volleyball and softball, earning the distinction of being a four‑year collegiate starter as a middle blocker in volleyball and a pitcher in softball – demonstrating exceptional athletic versatility and competitive toughness.
Alicia began her collegiate career at Vernon Junior College before transferring to Howard Payne University, where she continued to excel. During her senior season, she was named Conference Player of the Year in volleyball and earned First Team All‑Conference honors multiple times. Her ability to perform at a high level, lead under pressure, and contribute consistently made her a cornerstone player in the program.
Following her playing career, Alicia transitioned seamlessly into coaching, bringing her competitive mindset and technical knowledge into athlete development. She has extensive experience coaching high school volleyball, as well as working with younger athletes in recreational programs, allowing her to effectively teach both foundational skills and advanced concepts. In addition to volleyball, Alicia has spent many years providing private pitching instruction for softball, further strengthening her skill set as a technically sound and detail‑oriented coach.
Coach Alicia is known for her ability to connect with athletes, build confidence, and develop disciplined, hardworking players. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, positional excellence, accountability, and competitive resilience – preparing athletes not only for success on the court, but for the challenges of leadership and teamwork beyond the game.
Outside of coaching, Alicia enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters. As a family who shares a love for travel and volleyball, that same sense of support, balance, and passion shows up in the way she leads and invests in her athletes.
