Nicole Gibson (aka Coach Coo) is a former club and collegiate volleyball athlete who brings over two decades of club coaching experience and a deep‑rooted passion for youth development to the game. Her coaching journey began unexpectedly, but from the moment she stepped into the gym with young athletes, she discovered a calling that would shape youth volleyball throughout the North Texas region.
Over the past 15 years, Coach Coo has been instrumental in building, growing, and leading youth volleyball programs, with a particular focus on early athlete development. She made history by serving as the Head Coach of the first‑ever 10U club volleyball team in North Texas, a groundbreaking program that went on to develop five Division I scholarship athletes – a testament to her long‑term development model and commitment to fundamentals. She later led the first and only 9U club team in the state of Texas, setting a standard for age‑appropriate training and competitive excellence. Many of those athletes remain highly competitive today, with aspirations of playing at the collegiate level.
Coach Coo’s coaching philosophy is firmly rooted in teaching strong fundamentals, proper mechanics, and volleyball IQ at an early age. She believes early mastery and confidence create the framework for long‑term athletic success and athlete longevity. Her approach prioritizes patience, consistency, and trust in the development process, ensuring athletes build both skill and self‑belief.
Beyond volleyball performance, Coach Coo is deeply committed to shaping confident, respectful, and self‑advocating young women. She uses the game as a vehicle to teach leadership, accountability, and resilience, empowering athletes to believe in themselves and overcome challenges on and off the court.
Coach Coo’s mission is to inspire every athlete she coaches to strengthen their love for the game while growing into leaders who are prepared to succeed far beyond volleyball.
