Robert Hilger is a U.S. Naval veteran who brings discipline, leadership, and a deep commitment to athlete development to every coaching role he takes on. With more than 20 years of coaching experience across multiple sports, Robert offers a broad and well‑rounded approach to teaching young athletes both the technical and personal aspects of competition.
Following his military service, Robert competed in college athletics, playing soccer and football, experiences that shaped his understanding of teamwork, accountability, and high‑performance expectations. He was introduced to volleyball while serving in the military, where he developed a strong appreciation for the game and went on to compete in beach volleyball tournaments, further expanding his athletic versatility.
Robert has been involved in volleyball as a player, coach, and official, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the game from multiple perspectives. This breadth of experience allows him to effectively teach fundamentals, game flow, and rules awareness, while also helping athletes understand how to compete with integrity and sportsmanship.
Coaching is a true passion for Robert. He especially enjoys working with young athletes and finds great fulfillment in watching players grow in confidence, skill, and understanding of the game. His coaching philosophy emphasizes effort, consistency, and personal growth, with a focus on helping athletes develop habits that translate beyond the court.
